Whickham Fellside Seniors United was established in 2022 to provide young players with a clear pathway from junior football into the challenging and competitive world of adult grassroots football.

The team was initially built around seven players from the club’s former Under-19 squad. Coach Derek Williamson also reconnected with players from a previous Whickham Fellside team that had disbanded at Under-18 level, bringing approximately eight former players back to the club as they approached their mid-twenties.

The respected Whickham Fellside name, combined with extensive scouting and recruitment, helped create a strong initial squad of around 25 players.

Although the squad has evolved since 2022, many of the original Under-19 players remain an important part of the team.

Seniors United continues to play a vital role in the Whickham Fellside player pathway by providing younger players with opportunities to train alongside the adult squad. These sessions help players become accustomed to the physical demands, pace and expectations of senior football.

The aim is to help talented young players progress into the first-team squad and continue their grassroots football journey with Whickham Fellside beyond junior level.

This pathway allows players to remain part of the club, develop their ability and represent Whickham Fellside YFC in competitive adult football.

We play on a Sunday morning - generally at Dunston Park (Dunston) or at Watergate Park (Whickham).  Usually at 10:30

26/27 is our second season in senior football having entered the Combination League for the first time in the 25/26 season.  In our first season we finished 4th and are looking to push on in the 26/27 season.

We have 31 players in the current squad where the the majority of the lads are 20 / 21 and a number of them have played together for a number of seasons.

All kit is supplied - match day and training.  Funded through several sponsors that we have worked hard to secure.

We train once a week on a Tuesday - during the summer that is at Dunston Park (19:00 - 20:00). During the Winter (September - March) we train at Blaydon Leisure Centre.  Two qualified coaches in place and two existing players currently working towards their first coaching badge.
